Chromonica Series
The Chromonica Series began in the 1930s with “The Chromonica” Hohner 260, 10-hole chromatic harmonica. A 10-hole model, it has been configured in several ways, including Richter, Solo, and even Orchestra tunings. While the 260 is a valved chromatic, the Koch chromatic is non-valved. It was popular for almost a century with many players. Both 260 and Koch have been discontinued.
The next in the Chromonica Series was “The Super Chromonica” Hohner 270. This model rose in popularity and was the harmonica of choice of harmonica virtuosi of the day. This model is still manufactured today because it has stood the test of time. Other models have various features, all based on the Hohner 270.
Harmonica players demanded more notes and a larger range. So Hohner began to produce “The 64 Chromonica” Hohner 280. This harmonica has a 4-octave range of C3-D7. Like the 270, the 280 is still manufactured today because it, too, has stood the test of time. Other models have various features, all based on the Hohner 280.
